Leading sustainable jewellery brand Lebrusan Studio on its mission to champion pre-loved gemstones

Award-winning ethical jewellery brand Lebrusan Studio has announced the arrival of a large new stock of recycled gemstones, now available for clients to choose from when commissioning their ethical engagement rings or bespoke heirloom jewels.

An exciting assortment of shapes, sizes, colours and stories, these gemstones – mostly fancy sapphires and old-cut diamonds - were carefully removed from old pieces of jewellery for a second lease of life, sourced at auction or bought directly from jewellers and individuals who no longer needed them.

An eventual accumulation of months’ worth of searching and collecting, this sparkling stock of options is the latest step in Lebrusan Studio’s mission to operate entirely within ‘The Doughnut,’ a socioeconomic framework founded by economist Kate Raworth.

“It’s important to us that our jewellery is an active force of good, financially and socially supportive of small-scale miners. For this reason, we will never stop championing newly mined materials like fair-traded gemstones or artisanal diamonds,” the brand’s Creative Director Arabel Lebrusan explains.

“However, we have now reached a state of climate emergency. Parallel to the importance of supporting legitimate livelihoods is our need, as a society, to slow the rate at which we’re consuming our planet’s natural resources. For those of you who wish to minimise your impact on the environment and perhaps create a brand new engagement ring exclusively from recycled materials, now’s your chance to reclaim a gemstone already above-ground – ready to go without any need for further mining.”

The brand, available by appointment at Hatton Garden’s historic London Diamond Bourse every Wednesday, invite interested clients to visit them in person – “An opportunity to get up close and personal with this treasure chest of curious little fragments of history.”

Lebrusan Studio, awarded Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year by NAJ back in June 2022, prides itself on using exclusively sustainable materials. Whilst its stock of recycled gemstones are a new addition to its core offering, 100% recycled platinum and gold have been available to clients for the past decade.

Meanwhile, Fairtrade Gold, Fairmined Ecological Gold, artisanal Ocean Diamonds and fair-traded coloured gemstones are offered to those who wish to prioritise their positive socioeconomic impact.

Esteemed for her intricate and eclectically inspired designs, Arabel Lebrusan holds the title of the NAJ’s Jewellery Designer of the Year. More recently, her eponymous brand’s newly launched Artisan Collections of engagement rings and jacket rings were shortlisted for Professional Jeweller’s Ethical Collection of the Year.
